| About Triphasil |
Triphasil is a birth-control pill, used to prevent pregnancy. It may also be used to regulate a woman's menstrual cycle.
|
| Proper Triphasil Usage |
Take exactly as directed by your physicain. Take Triphasil with food to prevent stomach upset. Try to take it at the same time each day, as this may help you remember to take it. Triphasil takes a while to come into effect: use a back-up method of birth control for the first week of taking it. If you were prescribed Triphasil as a "morning after" pill or for any other purpose, follow your physicain's directions precisely.
|
| Proper Triphasil Storage |
Store at room temp. away from sunlight and moisture. Keep out of the reach of children.
|
| Missed Triphasil Dosge |
If you miss one pill, take it as soon as you remember, or take two pills the next day. Ovulation is unlikely to occur, but to be safe, you may want to use a back-up method of birth control (such as condoms) for the following seven days.
If you miss two days in a row, take the two pills as soon as you remember. Alternatively, make up the dose by taking three pills the next day (the regular dose + the two doses you missed) or by taking a double dose for the next two days (the regular dose + a dose you missed, each day). There is a chance of ovulation, so you must use a back-up method of birth control for at least seven days after that. To be entirely sure, use a back-up method of birth control until you get your next period.
If you miss three days in a row, throw away the package, count seven days from the last day on which you took a pill, and then start a new package (take the first pill on the 7th day after you took the last pill) Use a back-up form of birth control until you have taken a pill for seven days in a row. During the seven days in which you are not taking pills, you should get your period. If you do not, you should have a pregnancy test before you start the next package of pills.

| Triphasil Warnings |
Tell your physicain your complete medical history and family medical history before you start using Triphasil. Mention especially: asthma, high blood pressure, kidney disease, liver heart disease, stroke, jaundice (yellowing skin/eyes) or high blood pressure in pregnancy, excessive weight gain or fluid retention during menstrual cycle, blood clots, heart attack, seizures, migraines, breast cancer, high cholesterol or lipids (fats), diabetes, depression.
Triphasil may cause dark skin patches on the face (melasma). This is likelier with higher doses of Triphasil. If you experience melasma, you should limit your exposure to sun and sunlamps as much as possible. Consult a physicain.
After you quit taking birth-control pills, it may take you a while to conceive. Consult a physicain about your options.
Do not smoke while you are using birth-control pills. The pills slightly raise your risk of getting strokes, blood clots, high blood pressure, heart attacks, gallbladder disease, vision problems, and liver tumors, and cigarette smoking (as well as age) are additional risk factors. Ask for a copy of the patient labeling that further explains the risks. Consult your physicain for any questions, including possible use in nonsmokers over 40 years of age.
You may develop vision problems if you are near-sighted or wearing contact lenses, or you may develop problems wearing the lenses themselves. If this happens, contact your eye physicain.
Before having any medical procedures, surgery, or dental surgery, tell the staff you are using birth control pills.
Triphasil must not be used by pregnant women. If you are taking birth-control pills and you think you might be pregnant, notify your physicain immediately.
Triphasil is excreted in breast milk. It may affect milk production and may harm the nursing infant. Consult a physicain about breast-feeding while using Triphasil.
