BuSpar relieves symptoms of generalized anxiety disorder, such as excessive fear, tension and anxiety. It functions to reduce the level of the chemical serotonin in the brain which may have become unbalanced. The first effects of BuSpar should be felt within 7-10 days of use. The full effect is reached gradually, over a period of 2 to 4 weeks.

It is important to take this medication exactly as prescribed. Do not increase your dose or take more often than prescribed. Take this medication with food or milk if stomach upset occurs.

Store at room temp. away from sunlight and moisture. Keep out of the reach of children.

In most cases you should take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If, however, it is almost time for your next dose, skip the dose you missed and take only the one regularly scheduled (never take a double dose).

Some people experience side effects like dizziness, nausea, headache, nervousness, lightheadedness, and excitement. These are usually not serious enough to make most people stop taking BuSpar. If a possible reaction is troublesome for you, contact your physicain. Wait before driving a car or using complex machinery until you are reasonably sure that BuSpar will not affect alertness or coordination. Notify your physicain if you experience: abnormal movements or "twitches" of the face or neck muscles, other involuntary movements or tremors, depression, confusion, incoordination, chest pain, breathing difficulties.

BuSpar should not be taken with medications called MAO Inhibitors. It should also not be taken alongside alcohol.
