| About Astelin |
Astelin is a prescription antihistamine nasal spray, used for the treatment of seasonal allergic rhinitis and non-allergic vasomotor rhinitis.
Rhinitis is an inflammation of the mucous membranes lining the nose, which causes constant "cold" symptoms such as sneezing, nasal congestion, and runny nose. Allergic rhinitis is rhinitis that happens as an allergic reaction to an allergen (grass, pollen, dustmites, etc.), whereas nonallergic rhinitis occurs in persons who are affected by environmental or chemical-based irritants. The symptoms in either case are the same, and they can be relieved by use of Astelin.
Astelin has been proven to be an effective alternative in patients whose symptoms weren't relieved by other medications, such as Allegra and Claritin.
