Aciphex is a proton pump inhibitor that suppresses acid production in the cells of the stomach lining. It is used for the healing of erosive gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), maintenance of healed erosive GERD, healing of duodenal ulcers and treatment of pathological hypersecretory conditions, including Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. It is also approved for treatment of daytime and nighttime heartburn and other symptoms associated with GERD. Aciphex is also used along with antibiotics to eradicate H. pylori infections (believed to be responsible for the majority of peptic ulcers).

Take one Aciphex pill per day. Aciphex is effective for 24 hours.

Store at room temp., away from heat, sunlight and moisture, and out of the reach of children.

Aciphex is usually well-received, with the most commonly reported side-effect being headache.

Symptom relief does not rule out other serious stomach conditions. Patients taking warfarin (Coumadin) may need to be monitored more closely by their physicain. Before starting Aciphex treatment, tell your physicain about any other drugs you may be taking. Also consult a physicain if you are pregnant or breast-feeding.
